LUDHIANA: The sub-regional office (SRO) of employees provident fund organisation on Tuesday kickstarted the process of receiving application forms on the basis of which each employee contributing to provident fund will be issued a national social security number (NSSN).
Inaugurating the first phase of the camp organised at the premises of Rishab Spinning Mills, Jodhan near here, regional provident fund commissioner Ludhiana KL Goyal informed that the NSSN was meant for each member of PF and allied schemes throughout the country.
Under this, the PF members would be issued a unique 14-digit code and this would remain unchanged throughout life irrespective of the place and establishment in which he/she is working, he informed. This will also remove usual hassles of transferring the PE account in case of change of establishment and place.
SRO Ludhiana has a target of about 2,50.000 regular. Around 60,000 forms have been distributed among 40 establishments to pro vide various details of their employees to be maintained in NSSN cards by way of filling prescribed forms. There is an option of providing such information through CDs or floppies, he said.
The office has received data of around 12000 members of 8 establishments including Rishab Sppinning Mills, Verka Milk Plant Ludhiana, Majestic Auto Limited, Ralson India Limited, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital so far. Of the total forms distributed so far, 1000-1500 forms were being received at SRO daily in the first phase, he informed.
The second phase is also on wherein forms/CDs/floppies have been distributed to another 42 establishments involving nearly 35,000 members. In this phase, the establishments included Mohan Dai Oswal Cancer Hospital, Munjal Castings., Anshupati Textiles, Eveline International, Jindal Fine Industries, Sambhav Spinning Mills, Gruop4 Securities and Hindustan Tyres Limited. June 25, has been fixed as the target date for the second phase and all enforcement officers have been deployed exclusively for the purpose, said Goyal.
As per the programme, the first phase is meant to collect the required information about the member to be followed by organising a camp at the concerned establishment to click members'' photographs.
After this, complete forms along with photograph will be sent to Delhi and Hyderabad for generation of NSSN cards in the final phase. The cards will then be distributed among concerned members through their employers. There is plan in future yto integrate all the EPF offices in the country through a national computer centre. A special computer like box called ''kiosk'' will be installed at different places in the country where the members can get required information including status of his account on the screen along with a printout. The nodal officer and assistant PF commissioner Dr Shiv Kumar was present.
